Classic Nautical Wedding at Bay Head Yacht Club
We are so excited to post the photos from this summer wedding in Bay Head, NJ! Sailing is a big part of Andy's life and that theme ran through the wedding. They chose the perfect venue, The gorgeous Bay Head Yacht Club, and even arrived on a sailboat! Between driving, trolley, and boat we joked that we took every mode of transportation besides flying, haha! All of the events from prep, to ceremony, to sailing, to the venue were all located right in town which gave us a variety of beautiful locations. We knew right where to be since Nicole and Andy gave us the grand tour of the town during their engagement session earlier this year. Andy's family has been here for generations, and we even got to see and shoot in his grandparents house, built in the 1800's! It was awesome, and since his grandfather was a master photographer, also a little daunting, but I'd like to think we did him proud...we know Andy and Nicole have! Read on to see how the day unfolded!
The bride and groom both prepped for the big day at charming homes in Bay Head. We met the video crew from Stoner Media (who were wonderful to work with!) and got right to work. Nicole's friend designed and created the watercolor invitation suite that complimented the event beautifully, and created the perfect backdrop to photograph some of the bride's details. You can never go wrong with classics like Chanel, Jimmy Choo, a perfect updo by Spa Bella, and pearls from the groom.. and a champagne toast, of course! The light and soft colors in the bedroom were wonderful for capturing Nicole getting dressed and jeweled, and the portraits of her and her 2 sisters were some of my favorites from the day. Everything was complimented with the pretty florals courtesy of Flowers By Melinda. While Andy was prepping he presented the groomsmen with these really cool personalized pens, and received a painting of his boat from Nicole. When everyone was ready the girls boarded the trolley, and the guys headed to the ceremony in style with 2 antique cars!
Ceremony at All Saints Church in Bay Head, NJ
All Saints is quaint and lovely little church that is just so pretty, but for wedding ceremonies there is NO photography allowed (yes, we died a little as we anxiously waited outside, haha!). However, the bright side is that they do not only 1, but 2 exits! We have plenty of time during the ceremony to check out where we want to be and they are always awesome. Andy and Nicole's were no exception and they way they rode off in their antique car made it that much more unique. Definitely one of our favorites of 2017!
Portraits at All Saints Church and family home in Bay Head, NJ.
After their sweet ceremony exit the car circled the block so they could do family and bridal party photos behind the church. The little graden on the canal is perfect, and so convenient for family photos and keeps everyone nice and close to the church, and their transportation. After the formalities were handled we headed over to a friends (gorgeous!) home to capture some more relaxed photos of the bride and groom with their VIPs and prep for the boat ride to Bay Head Yacht Club. The videographer and I actually got our own private boat to capture it all, how cool is that?!
Sailboat Ride and Flag ceremony at
These guys certainly know how to make an entrance, and when your wedding is at a yacht club you arrive in a sailboat, of course! It was a great time, and different from any of the other boat rides we've done because this time we got our own private boat to capture it from, so cool! At sunset the announcement was made for the guest to come on to the porch to observe Colors. The newlyweds lowered the flag and fired the canon, a tradition that the groom and his brother used to do with their grandfather. It was amazing!
Reception at Bay Head Yacht Club
This day was incredible, but there were a lot of moving parts, so when the reception rolled around everyone was ready to relax and party! The Silver Arrow Band did a great job keeping the dance floor filled and bumping all night, and the Yacht Club was the perfect place and back drop to finish the day's celebrations! A great time was had by all!
