Kara and Ingmar’s wedding in Rotterdam had a hint of boho style and the chillest vibe ever. Between exploring Amsterdam on Monday that included an escalator fall and a pedestrian/bike accident (me, haha!), the flower market and bouquet making followed by scooter riding on Tuesday, to the wedding on Wednesday these two showed us the best time. It was a fabulous adventure that I feel lucky and honored to have captured and I can’t wait to go back! Everyone contributed to this love story, to their day, and so we all celebrated it, and Kara and Ingmar completely deserve the immense amount of love that we all have for them. I wish you guys nothing but continued love and luck… and a move to the states, of course!!! Enjoy!

Wedding day prep | Rotterdam
Ingmar was originally planning on crashing at a friend’s place and getting ready there in the morning, but wedding days seldom go according to plan and sometimes it works out for the best. This was one of those times! It was actually really sweet that they had a few moments together on the morning of the wedding and it was an added bonus for me that I was able to get some photos of him getting ready as well. Tracy came all the way from Washington D.C. to be with Kara and cut and style her hair. Meanwhile Ingmar’s sister assembled all of the deserts which she BAKED and DECORATED herself! Kara opened an amazing custom leather bag made for her wedding day by her brother’s wife (a leather bag designer who is 8 months pregnant!), and Ingmar’s dad created the his and hers ring box and the cake cutting set. It was created from Dutch maple and American Walnut… how freaking cute and thoughtful is that?! Kara’s friends even designed and put together her bouquet! Clearly they have some amazingly talented family and friends, and can we talk about their adorable apartment (and color coded books!)?!
Wedding Ceremony | de Bibliotheek Rotterdam
I was in LOVE with this wedding ceremony. The wedding registrar is in the library, de Bibliotheek Rotterdam, and overlooks Markthal. Not only is it a cool setting and view but the actual ceremony was pretty awesome. They allow 10 people and require 4 witnesses. They ask how each person present knows or is related to the bride and groom. They ask the couple how they met, asked each parent how they felt about the marriage, and just required lots of participation from not just the bride and groom. I thought it was so cool!
Bride and Groom Portraits | Around Rotterdam
I was so excited to explore Rotterdam with this magazine worthy couple, but we also had to be mindful that they had an apartment full of people waiting for them to get the party started! We had to do one in the library, of course, and luckily the lighting right outside Markthal was perfect. We were able to get all the staples with family and friends before heading out to the street for some fun ones and on to the Metro to get to the party. I made them PROMISE to let me get a few more later, and as you’ll see when you get to the reception, they certainly did!
Wedding reception and portraits | De Gele Kenarie Rotterdam
With all of the unique details thus far you didn’t expect the reception to be conventional, did you? All close friends and family gathered at their apartment for appetizers, cocktails (including a homebrewed beer), and cake-cutting before heading to De Gele Kenarie for the big celebration. They have collected such a wonderful group of people that it was truly an honor to be a part of. The germans were WILD as you’ll see in the photos, haha! The Dutchies gifted the newlyweds this amazing helicopter ride. So many childhood friends from Pine Beach that traveled from up and down the East Coast. What a blast! Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs.!!!
